QU, UDST, and HBKU Shine on final day of QCSF University Volleyball Tournament
The 2024-2025 University Volleyball Tournament for male and female students concluded on Wednesday evening, after an exciting competition held from February 2 to 12 at the Doha University for Science and Technology arena and Qatar Foundation courts.
In the thrilling final, male students delivered exceptional performances, showcasing their skills and determination to claim the podium. Qatar University (QU) secured the tournment title, while Doha University for Science and Technology (UDST) finished as runners-up, and Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) took third place.
On the women’s side, Qatar University dominated once again, claiming first place, followed by Doha University of Science and Technology in second and Hamad Bin Khalifa University in third.
During the award ceremony, H.E. Dr. Ibrahim Bin Saleh Al-Naimi, President of the Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation (QCSF), alongside Dr. Angela Flowerday, Vice President for Student Affairs at UDST, crowned the top three women’s teams. Dr. Mohammad Shaheen Al-Kuwari, Vice President of Qatar University, joined His Excellency in honoring the top three teams in the men’s category.
Additionally, Mr. Rashid Saeed Adiba, Secretary-General of QCSF, recognized the Qatar Volleyball Association for its exceptional organizational and technical contributions. He also honored Qatar Foundation and Doha University of Science and Technology as the official hosts of the tournament.
Individual Awards: Mr. Adiba presented the following individual awards: Best Player: Abdullah Sameer (UDST), Best Blocker: Mostafa Al-Taif (QU), Best Spiker: Hussein Diab (UDST), In the women’s category:
Best Player: Huda Mubarak (QU), Best Blocker: Maya Al-Taji (UDST), Best Spiker: Diana Crislin (QU).
The tournament saw participation from several prestigious institutions, including Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar University, Doha University for Science and Technology, and Texas A&M University.
Reflecting on the tournament’s success, Mr. Rashid Adiba, QCSF Secretary-General, praised the outstanding technical and creative performances of the students. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all organizers, referees, and supporting institutions, emphasizing that this collective effort played a key role in elevating university sports to new heights of excellence and distinction.
