Qatar University wins Universities Football Tournament Trophy
Qatar University team won the title of inaugural Universities Football Tournament 2023 , following a 4-2 penalty shoot-out victory over Ahmad Bin Mohammed Military College in the final game held at the playgrounds of University of Doha for Science and Technology on Thursday.
Thursday’s final game has seen high technical performance level from both teams, but Qatar University team made the difference to win the glorious title.
In the clash for third spot of the podium, AFG College Partnered with University of Aberdeen seized the third place after defeating Community College 5-4.
At the medal ceremony, the QCSF Secretary General, Mr. Rashid Adiba, crowned the winners Qatar University with the trophy and gold medals, as runner-up Ahmad Bin Mohammed Military College the silver medals while the bronze medals went to AFG College Partnered with University of Aberdeen team.
During these ceremonial moments, the QCSF Secretary General also honored the top supporters of the event, University of Doha for Science and Technology, Qatar Football Association and Qatari Police Sports Federation. In the same scene, students, Hassan Al Ghadi (Community College) won the best player award, Mohammed Abdulwahab ( Qatar University) named as a best goalkeeper and Mohammed Saleh ( Ahmad Bin Mohammed Military College) got top striker award.
In a post-medal ceremony statement , Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation Secretary General, Mr. Rashid Adiba appreciated the high technical and performance students showed in the games, he lauded their talents and skills in the most popular game worldwide and assured that promising football names may have a good chance to join the national teams in the future.
